Altar Boyz

November/December

Book by Kevin Del Aquila
Music & lyrics by Gary Adler & Michael Patrick Walker

On the final night of their “Raise the Praise” tour, Christian boy band and teen pop sensations Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham (“He’s Jewish!”) set out to save every soul in the “Hiz-ouse!” with the power of pop and a little help from G.O.D. Wearin’ their bling for the King and kickin’ it Old Testament style, these five holy heartthrobs rock their way through such heavenly hits as “Church Rulz!”, “God Put The Rhythm In Me” and their number one chart topper, “There’s Something About You Girl (That Makes Me Wanna Wait).”

bare

January/February

Book by Jon Hartmere & Damon Intrabartolo
Music by Damon Intrabartolo, Lyrics by Jon Hartmere

For a group of seniors at a Catholic boarding school, issues of sexuality, faith, drug abuse and personal identity are laid bare. Peter and Jason keep their relationship a secret while starring in the school play (Romeo and Juliet). While
Peter (Mercutio) yearns to open up to family and friends, he meets with resistance from Jason and the church. To protect his image, Jason (Romeo) shuns Peter for the popular Ivy (Juliet) while Jason’s acerbic sister Nadia (the Nurse) struggles with body image and low self esteem. As the young people come to terms with who they are, and who the world thinks they should be, they seek answers from their church, their friends, and ultimately, from within themselves.

Ablaze

March/April

An original work by Matthew B. Zrebski

The lock on an old gate has been found broken, and with that, teenagers have discovered a cool new hang out—the old abandoned high school on the outskirts of town. Various friends, groups and cliques vie for control over this hip “adult-free” zone. Then one evening they find themselves in the middle of a raging fire. To escape, they jump into a hole in the gymnasium floor. But now they are trapped. They are in the dark. There is no way out. And someone else is down there with them…

The Tempest

May/June

By William Shakespeare

Come away to a tropical island paradise filled with mischievous sprites, vengeful monsters and mighty wizards in Shakespeare’s most enchanting romantic comedy. After years of isolation, Prospero must mete out justice (and mercy) to the shipwrecked crew that exiled him many years ago. The beauty of Shakespeare’s language and some of his most fascinating characters combine with a rollicking Calypso beat in this sun-drenched fantasy adventure filled with music, dance, magic and pure delight. Presented in collaboration with Northwest Classical Theatre Company and starring Tobias Andersen as Prospero.
